adhd symptoms in adult women With ADD Face Daily Challenges
Adult women suffering from ADHD face daily challenges. They are often misdiagnosed or mistreated because many physicians still think of ADD as a disorder that is only affecting boys and men. Many ADD symptoms in females change in response to hormones. They become more prominent when you reach puberty, but they decrease when estrogen levels drop during PMS or perimenopausal.
Signs and symptoms

Adult women with ADD are easily irritated and impulsive. They often get involved in projects without thinking them through, such as careers and relationships. Many suffer from a high degree of sensitivity to rejection which makes it hard for them to cope with actual or perceived rejection. Women with ADD are more likely to engage in sexually dangerous actions than women who don't suffer from ADD for example, such as early sexual activity, casual sex multiple partners and unprotected births. Depression often coexists with or is a result of ADD and must be treated in conjunction with it. ADD symptoms are more obvious when girls reach puberty, during PMS and as estrogen levels drop during menopausal or perimenopausal.
Diagnosis
While the ADD symptoms of women are similar to those of men, doctors may be unable to diagnose the condition due to incorrect assumptions that ADD is more prevalent in boys. Women with ADD are more emotional than other women, particularly when they go through puberty, have PMS, or enter menopausal or perimenopausal phases. They can be extremely impulsive and jump into things full swing instead of planning their lives in a controlled manner. Depression is often a co-existing disorder or as a result.
